Yes, a polytheist can repent. The major companions who all embraced Islaam and accepted the call of the Prophet ﷺ were polytheists, and then they became the best people among all the Muslims. The one who repents is like the one who had no sin in the first place, since repentance destroys whatever sins came before it.
