Question
People come to ask me to intercede for them to join the military. Some of them are easy going while others are not. I feel shy to say no to their families, so what is the ruling of my interceding for them?
Answer
The person you help may be of benefit to the unit he joins, in which case this is a good intercession. The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Intercede and be rewarded…”
This is found in the collection of Bukhaary, 1432. On the other hand, if a person you intercede for is most likely not going to benefit the unit he is joining and he will occupy a job from someone that would be more beneficial, then intercession for this kind of person should not be done, and it will not be rewarded for if there is an overwhelming suspicion that he will not be of any benefit.
