Question
What is the ruling for interceding for a neighbor in a governmental department in order to help him get his issue done, while I do not know if he will jump the queue or others or not, rather, just to show him kindness?
Answer
It has been mentioned in an authentic narration,
“Intercede for others and you will receive reward.”
If this neighbor is deserving of this and eligible, and your intercessions will not help him jump the queue and prevent others who applied before him or are more worthy, or you do not know, then you fall under this narration,
“Help and recommend him and you will receive the reward for it; and Allaah will bring about what He will upon His Prophet's tongue.” (Bukhaary, 1432)
